The Washer Gear Case is an OEM part for Whirlpool washing machines. It is a critical component that houses the gears responsible for the rotation and agitation of the washer drum. This gear case ensures that the washer performs its washing cycles effectively by providing the necessary mechanical movements.

Causes of a bad gear case can include wear and tear from prolonged use, lubrication breakdown leading to increased friction, or damage from overloading the washer. Additionally, exposure to water leaks can lead to corrosion and deterioration of the internal components.

Symptoms of a bad gear case include:

  • Unusual grinding or clunking noises during the wash cycle
  • The drum not spinning or agitating properly
  • Leaks of oil or grease underneath the washer
  • The washer failing to complete its cycles

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

Hello C, the control board monitors the motor current and spin speed in the spin cycle, it cannot distinguish between a heavy clothes load and a tight gearcase, it will try to spin the clothes as fast as it is allowed, there is usually no fault code that will show for this condition. Your model came with a Technical testing sheet located behind the front panel near the top, using it you can check for any possible fault codes, as well as testing the motor in agitation and spin speeds.
