Hello Mike. These can be tricky to do, but not hard. You will raise up the side the ball is going into just enough to insert the ball into the slot under the lid. Then slowly push the lid onto the ball and snap it into place. It may take several tries to get it to pop into place. You can also use a small amount of grease to help you with this. Hope this helps.
