Susan July 19, 2012 for Model Number wfw9500tw02 I have purchased the hinge assembly. Now I need to know the process in replacing the old one. Does the front cover just snap off as well as the next piece before the hinge. I have been looking at the diagram when I ordered the hinge.
1 Answer The first step is to remove the screws that hold the hinge to the front of the cabinet and lift straight up. This will disengage the hooks that hold the door in position while the screws are removed or reinstalled. Next, lay the assembly on its' face with the inside of the door facing up. You will need to remember what screws you take out from which holes because they are different. Also, before disassembly, look at the glass and remember or take a picture with you phone of which side of the glass goes toward the top of the door assembly. From here it's just a matter of removing enough screws and once the hinge assembly is in position, putting the screws back in their proper holes. Read More...
Jenny February 06, 2012 for Model Number wfw9400swo4 The hindge on my washing machine broke. Is there any separate parts or just the whole hindge that you need to purchase?
1 Answer Hello Jenny. As long as none of the other parts broke on the unit, you should be fine with replacing just the hinge WP8183202. Hope this helps. Read More...
Waterspout December 05, 2011 for Model Number WFW9500TC01 There is a gray, unplated die-cast link bar about 1 1/2-inch long that has two eyeholes -- one at each end of the bar. It would look like a miniature box-ended wrench if it were viewable by itself. This link-bar is part of the hinge assembly and is used by the hinge as part of some parallelogram action to bring the hinge side of the door into contact with the door seal on the hinge side of the door as the latch side of the door is being brought into contact with the door seal on the latch side of the door when the door is closed. The hinge action on our machine got a little stiff recently and as I was working the door back and forth to loosen up the hinge, the eye on one end (the machine end) of the link bar broke. There is now no more parallelogram action when we close the door -- it takes two hands to do it now -- one hand pushing the latch side of the door into place and another pushing the hinge side of the door into place. Also, without the parallelogram positioning of the hinge side of the door that side of the door can be pushed open by tennis shoes or other heavy wash items striking the door when they tumbling about inside the wash drum during its rotation during normal machine operation. Is there anyway that this single, simple part costing but a fraction of a penny to make can be replaced by itself so we can avoid the $110.00-$150.00 cost of a complete hinge assembly?
1 Answer Hello Waterspout. Sorry, but the only way to get the bar is to order the hinge assembly WP8183202. Hope this helps. Read More...
