Amy, There may have been a "twist in the belt, the belt may have been too far out of alignment on the drum or he idler assembly wasn't aligned and locked in the openings in the base. Any one of these scenarios would cause the belt to slip off the idler. The width of the idler pulley doesn't have a major effect on the belt or idler, it's the position of the belt on the drum in relation to the idler pulley that is of concern. You may want to try installing the idler and belt again, Mkaer sure there are no twist in the belt, then align the belt on the drum to the idkller pulley, install the belt on the motor pulley and slightly raise the front of the drum and turn it clockwise, slowly until you can turn it a few(2 or 3) revolutions without the belt coming off, then install the front panel etc.

Jeff, You will want to check the white and yellow on the motor of unit to see if it is showing open or closed. If it is closed then you would need a new motor W10410999.

Hello Doug. It sounds like the belt WPW10198086 and the idler pulley WP691366 will need to be replaced. Make sure when you install the new parts, you place the idler pulley in the slots closest to the motor on the dryer.
