Heidi November 20, 2013 for Model Number maytag-mgr6775 I have a Maytag Gemini Double Oven purchased around 6-7 years ago, and the top oven will not turn on. I think we had a repair man out a couple of years ago and they replaced the electronic ignition in the lower oven. I also remember him saying it was an easy fix and we could do it ourselves should it happen to the top. Now I just need to know which part to order. The video shows a different model and the switches are under the burner. Is there another video for the oven ignition?
1 Answer Hello Heidi, The bake ignitor W11596211 is an easy fix. Pull the racks out of the unit and pull the floor panel out. If it has two screws in the back they will have to be removed to access the bake burner compartment. When the floor of the bake compartment is removed you will see the bake baffle. This should have one nut holding it in position. Once you remove it you will be able to access the two screws that retain the ignitor to the bake burner. This is sometimes easier to deal with if it is removed with the bake burner. The wires will have to be access through the back of the unit. Read More...
Carla August 23, 2013 for Model Number MGR6875ADQ Is the spark switch the same as the igniter switch? My stove has the same problem as another questioner, the burner tries to ignite and the only way to stop it is by unplugging the stove. What is the part number for the item I need?
1 Answer Carla, Yes the igniter switch is the same as the spark switch. The switch 12002791 is the part that you would need for the issue that you are experiencing. Read More...
Len June 08, 2013 for Model Number MGR6875ADQ I have a model MGR6875ADQ Matag oven and the igniter switch assy. is bad as per the maytag repairman . He said he has to remove the burners, 4 to remove the top and get to the part and those screws are all rusted over the 10 years of the stove. Is there any other way to reach the igniter assy? He wants us to buy a new stove due to the labor and cost to fix this one?
1 Answer Len, Other than using a screw extraction tool to get the screws out or by drilling them out would be the only way to remove the screws to be able to replace the ignition switches. Read More...
Wesley D. January 29, 2013 for Model Number mgr6875abd The burners spark like they are trying to ignite even with the burners turned off. The only way to get them to stop is to unplug the stove. I can smell a electricall burning smell that seems to be coming from under two two of the knobs. When I removed the knobs it apears that the ignitor on the burner controls are black and appera to be burnt. Not sure if it is the spark module or the ignitor control that I need to replace.
1 Answer Hello Wesley. Based on the information you provided, the spark switch is bad and will need to be replaced on the unit. Read More...
Ron K. January 25, 2012 for Model Number mgr6875adw The ignitor for the lower oven will not turn off.
1 Answer Hello Ron. Test for power coming from the control board WP5701M800-60 to the oven igniter. If the board is sending the power to the igniter, you will need to replace the control assembly. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. Hope this helps. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Charlie July 31, 2011 for Model Number MGR6775BDS 2 of the 5 burners do not light. Then their perspective knobs are turned. They dont spark any of the 5 burners when turned. When the other 3 knobs are turned they send spark to all 5 burners. My assumption is the ignitor switch part # AP4010265 is bad. Can you sugest anthing else that would cause this to occur?
