For Whirlpool Dishwasher Impeller & Seal Kit (Part Number: OEM18144990)

Mike for Model Number KUDS01DLBT2

my motor-volute-impeller spring loaded seal has failed. I have tried four (4) 8193951A impeller repair kits from two different vendors. They all have the washers that fit into the provided impeller but the spring loaded, rubber coated seal that I need is NOT in any of the 8193951A kits. I suspect the kits being shipped are themselves defective in either having the wrong part number on their packaging or the right part number but the wrong part. They all are packaged in plastic with printed part numbers 8193951A and they all include a white plastic disk with a rubber boot on it that is not the right size to fit anywhere in the volute or the impeller.

Mike, based on the information provided, it would be likely that the motor WPW10757217 would need to be replaced as it sounds like the impeller is a push-to-fit type. The impeller kit 8193951A should include all of the parts shown in the item image.

Hi, I have a question regarding this repair. I have everything apart and I just received my new impeller and seal, and installed them while closely following your directions in your video. The motor shaft spins freely "without" the new impeller screwed onto the shaft. Is it suppose to spin freely when I put the new impeller on? When I say "spins freely", I mean the impeller will not turn on its own without my hand on it turning it. It feels like there's a little drag, so I'm wondering if its just because the parts fit tight. I don't want to overwork the motor if something is rubbing the wrong way. Thanks for the great video tutorial on this. My impeller number is 8193951A.

Dale, Yes there will be a "slight drag" on the impeller once it is installed properly. The motor shaft seal is "spring-loaded" and will apply pressure to the seal seat on the back of the impeller to maintain a watertight seal, this will produce a "drag" and the impeller won't spin as freely as it did. If you followed the instructions in the video, you're set and ready to go. Run the dishwasher through a short drain cycle (a minute or so, so the seal seats) then run it through a rinse only cycle and check for leaks and operation. Thanks,

Nathan for Model Number MDB8959AWB5

This dishwasher was found to be leaking water from around the motor assembly. When disassembled, the cause was found to be a spring encased with rubber that had deteriorated. This was causing the leak. The part needed for repair is included with the Impeller assembly part number AP6048327. This part has been out of stock for over a month with no sign of being back in stock. Does the Assembly-Motor/Impeller part number AP6024037 include the parts listed in the Impeller part number AP6048327? If this is the case, I would gladly purchase this entire motor/impeller assembly, even though I don't need the motor. Thank You

Hello Nathan, Placing an order for an out of stock part will generate an order to the manufacturer and it will normally ship out to you in 5 to 6 business days. You can order the pump and motor assembly if you want. It will ship out soon since it is in stock. Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter.

Hello Ivan, This is most likely the impeller/seal assembly. It is recommended to replace the sump and motor assembly WPW10780877 to correct the issue.

Hello Lisa, This job can be just as easily done with the unit on its' side. This will allow you to sit in the floor during the repair.
