The Injector Valve is an OEM replacement part specific to Whirlpool washing machines. It plays an important role in properly dispensing detergent into the wash load. Located inside the detergent dispenser drawer, the injector valve regulates the flow of water at timed intervals to fully dissolve and evenly distribute detergent among clothes. Causes of a bad injector valve can include clogging from mineral deposits or debris, wear and tear from regular use, or damage from high water pressure. A malfunctioning injector valve can lead to improper water levels and affect the washing machine's performance.

Symptoms of a bad injector valve include:

Inadequate water filling the washer
Water leaks around the valve area
Unusual noises during the water filling cycle
The washer not advancing through cycles properly
Visible debris or deposits at the injector valve opening

We think the injector needs replacing as it was done several years ago by a repairman when it was leaking water on the floor the same as it is now. How can we just open the top of the machine to get to it without taking the whole thing apart?

Hello Barbara, Unplug the unit and remove the two screws in the front panel. This will allow you to remove the front panel. Now there will be one screw in each corner at the top, inside the corners, threaded toward the ceiling. When removed, the main top will pivot open, allowing access to the injector assembly.

My machine is leaking at the sleeve where the water enters the tub. The rubber injector valve & nozzle still look intact. What is the purpose of the injector valve & nozzle? Can it be bypassed if only large loads are used? Could there be some type of clog (calcium build-up) in the lines that is causing this overflow?

Hello J. It can not be bypassed. Used to inject the water into the flume. You will need to order and replace the rubber valve on the unit.

I have an OLD Maytag washer in the house I am renting with a leak. Landlord is a little slow at getting to things, so I figured I'd try to take care of this problem myself. I have water gushing out of the sleeve where the injector valve is located while filling with hot or cold water. Will I need to order the injector kit (which says it isn't compatible with the A608S) or should I only order the injector valve?

Hello Corey. It is best to order and replace the kit 12001677 and not just the sleeve of the unit.

Hello Richard, The injector valve would not cause the unit to leak . This would be a water valve 205613 issue.

Hello how does bypassing the injector valve assembly affect the water fill? Can it be eliminated if I only use full load water level?

Hello Jim. You do not need to bypass the injector valve WP216201. It will affect the fill of the unit. Hope this helps.

I found my injector leaking. I figured out how to fix. Drections said it was a siphon break. My question is why do we need a siphon break at the top of the water line? Its not like we have a 500 foot drop in the line. Its only filling the tub. Can I bypass injector and just get rid of it? Thanks M Sterling

Hello M Sterling. Yes, the injector WP216201 can be bypassed, but the water fill will not work properly on the unit. It is best to replace the injector on the washer. Hope this helps.

After replacing the water control valve on our Maytag A8120, water was discovered leaking from the "injector valve assembly" (AP4025626) & it's plastic sleeve (AP4025355). What is the function of this valve?? Thanks!

Hello Cameraman. The injector assembly 12001677 is used as a siphon break in the water supply system. If it is leaking you will need to replace the injector valve assembly. Hope this helps.

When I took the Injector valve apart the nozzle was missing. Do you have a diagram availale how to install the new injector valve and nozzle?

Hello Jim. If you look at the parts diagram page, it show how the injector valve WP216201 is installed with the nozzle WP213015. The nozzle goes inside the injector valve.
