  • Attaches to the control/timer shaft on the front panel
  • Lets you turn and select cycles or options
  • Restores a snug fit when the original knob is cracked or stripped
  • Common symptoms: knob spins freely, falls off, won't turn settings, or is missing
What's included:
  • 1 gray control knob
Install notes:
  • Disconnect power before servicing
  • Pull the old knob straight off the shaft; retain any insert/clip used by your model
  • Align the new knob with the shaft and press firmly until fully seated
  • Test all settings for proper engagement

For Whirlpool Control Knob (Gray) (Part Number: OEM18039009)

Carrie G for Model Number LGR8648LW1

One day I was drying clothes just fine and I opened the door to add another item. When I pushed the start button. It would not start. I checked everything. Cleaned everything. Still no ignition. I watched your video for changing the on/off switch, which I'm thinking is the problem, but the man in video says, it usually b/c the button has a crack in it. Well mine doesn't have any visible signs of a crack or anything like that. I am very troubled about what it could be. Any idea? Your comments are appreciated. Thanks Carrie

Carrie, The most likely cause for the unit not starting after opening the door to put an item in it would be a faulty door switch. In most cases closing the door hard can cause the lever on the door to break off. The part number for the door switch is WP3406107.
