The Knob is an OEM part for Whirlpool cooktops. It allows you to control various settings such as temperature, cooking mode, and timer functions by turning the corresponding knobs on the control panel. With a stem length of 3/8", this control knob is designed for ease of use and a secure fit.

John, The knob only comes with the line to point to the setting mark and the control panel would have the hi-med-lo marking on it.

I've gone through 2 sets of these knobs in a little less than 4 years. And now I need another set. So frustrating. The plastic stem that surrounds the D-shaped metal part inside always cracks and makes the whole thing too loose and therefore useless. I would love to find a set that has an all-metal stem. Or maybe i can find some sort of material to wrap around the plastic stem to prevent it from cracking. Any ideas or know of any replacement knobs that are better than the original Whirlpool knobs? Thanks!

Eric, We can only suggest manufacturer replacement parts for your unit. I have used zip ties in the field on these, there might be some small clamps that would fit around the stems also to provide longer life but it would be trial and error.

Ken, The new knob comes with an insert already in the part. If you left the insert on the old shaft the new knob will not slide onto the shaft.

Car, In most cases the igniters will continue to spark, when to burner is turned off because the valve ignition switch is "shorted" or damaged and continues to supply power to the ignition module.
