This is a control panel used in many dryers. It is an essential part that includes the touchpad for the appliance. This component sits on top of the dryer and allows the user to operate the machine. It includes buttons for cycles, drying temp, and other options for drying clothing after the use of a washing machine. It's made of durable materials but can be damaged and require replacement. It may also malfunction and stop showing cycle information on the front of the panel. The buttons can also experience issues necessitating replacement. If the control panel is damaged or malfunctioning, the first step to take is making sure the dryer is turned off. This will prevent any injuries or damage from occurring during the replacement process. A set of basic tools and a pair of work gloves will also be useful. The original control panel should be carefully removed from the washer and set to the side. This control panel is sold as a single part. It is an OEM replacement component that is sourced directly from the manufacturer. This part is made for use with several Maytag dryers.

For Whirlpool Console Assembly (Part Number: OEM12130437)

Jay for Model Number MDE5500AZW

I need to order a console touchpad assembly as per many postings here at your site as my dryer has the exact same "18" display, unresponsive buttons, and chirping issues. I noticed that you have two console assemblies available for this model. Does it really matter which assembly to use? They look identical; are the buttons different? If I order the wrong one, would it still work regardless? Or is the only difference the colour (white or almond)? Could you please clarify? Thanks for your time.

Val, The 33002536 is the console assembly and the key pad panel, it does not contain the LED control board 33003028 . The manufacturer has discontinued all eight (8) control boards(depending on serial number) for the model number you supplied.

Dryer started chirping the other day in 3-5 short bursts, and quit working. By not working I mean it lights up with a time on screen, but will not turn on. After unplugging, and letting the entire display and control unit sit, the dryer ran for about 30 seconds. Loaded clothes and it will not turn on. Question is it a control board or touch panel issue? Control board not available, but touch panel is. It can go into diagnostic mode, but no buttons work after that. Can also enter system check and not buttons work, can enter membrane pad check, but again no buttons work. Thanks

Tom, The control touch pad of the unit would be the cause of the unit not operating. This would need to be replaced.

About 3 months ago, half of my led lights on control panel started getting dim, including the start button. We had to press the button numerous times to start machine. Once started everything worked fine, no problems at all. Now the start button light is completely out and we can't start dryer. Can you tell me if I need a new touch pad console, or a whole new control board. I don't mind spending money for touch pad, the whole board probably not so much. thank you

1 Answer

Tom, This issue would most likely be caused by a faulty touchpad console since it started dimming first then completely failed.

Hello Troy. No, the console does not come with the control board. It has to be ordered separately.

Ed, The differences between the 2 parts is the series of the part. The series is the first 2 digits of the serial number. If the series number is 10 to 68 then part number 33002536 is the part required and if the series number is 69 or higher then you will use part number 22004444.

Tina, You can do this yourself, you need some basic hand tools and a socket or nut driver set. "CONSOLE REMOVAL 1. Disconnect power to the unit. 2. Remove the four screws securing the console to the rear cover plate.3. Lay a drop cloth across the top cover of the washer. 4. Grasp the top of the console and gently rock the top of the console forward away from the rear console back. Note the hooked tabs on bottom of the console, which engage the slots in the top cover. 5. For reinstallation, reverse the aforementioned steps. MICROPROCESSOR BOARD REMOVAL1. Disconnect power to the dryer. 2. Remove the console assembly. 3. Carefully remove the membrane pad harness and other wires from the microprocessor board."(You also want to label the wires and connectors to ease the re installation). Good Luck and Thanks
