Roger C Arab , AL April 13, 2014 Appliance: Maytag Electric Dryer MDE5500AYW It would chirp or beep even when not in use it may work or not work you could power off and back on and it may run all day I narrowed it to either the control board or the touchpad assy. I did get it to go into diagnostics mode and one time got an error code of 08 which was according to the technical sheet a stuck switch on the the touchpad. So i replaced the led console assy last week and so far so good. Debert T Crownsville , MD September 12, 2015 Display lights but will not start This is the second time in five year I've had to replace this part. Both times it began with the dryer "chirping " all the time causing us to unplug the dryer between uses. Eventually, the display freezes on pause and will not run. Replacing is quite easy, a few screws in the back and it lifts off attached now only by a ribbon cable. After gently removing the ribbon cable replace the control panel by performing your removal actions in reverse. I did notice the cost of this replacement part has rose about 40 % since I last bought one five years ago. This is a easy repair. Christina M Baltimore , MD April 29, 2016 Appliance: Maytag Gas Dryer MDG5500AWW Continuous beeping and no response when pushing buttons After researching my dryer issue on the internet, I was brought to this website. I confirmed the problem with them. My dryer was working at times but had an irritating beeping sound so I kept it unplugged when not in use. The buttons also did not respond when needed. Eventually, the problem got worse and I broke down and ordered the part. I was hesitant on spending so much on a plastic part. However, I didn't want to go through the trouble and additional expense of buying a new dryer, so in the long run it was well worth it. I received the part very quickly and put it on with NO problems. Unscrewed four screws and unplugged one part and put it back together all in five minutes. Dryer is back to working normally. Easiest repair ever. Read More... Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: Less than 15 minutes Tools: Screwdrivers
