Patrick for Model Number KERC700LBS0 Kitchenaid Oven

Oven bulb burned out. replacement bulb doesnt work but is good (tested separately). The bulb that burned out looks like it got hot as some of the the solder around the base of the bulb is melted. Pulled the back panel and no power on the wires going to the socket. I can hear a relay/click when I open the door or hit the light button on the panel. Is there a separate transformer on this, or other power test I can do to identify what has failed?

1 Answer

Patrick, You can test the oven light at the control board from connector P1 pin number 4 to P1 pin 1 for 120 vac with the door open or the oven light switch turned on. If there is no power then the control board is faulty and would need to be replaced. If there is power then check the wiring from the control to the light socket.

Sylvia, This light cover would just screw off. You may have to get ahold of it with a grip type of rubber pad in order to get it off.

Hello Orvie, The bulb cover unscrews to expose the bulb. It will tend to seize from the expansion and contraction of the materials from the operating temperatures in the bake compartment, so it may be necessary to use a rubber bottle opener for grip to get it unscrewed.

Hello Rebecca. Make sure the light socket is not damaged. If it is good, then the door switch may be bad.

Hello Mary, You will need to remove the screws that thread straight up towards the ceiling that retains the control cover. This will lower down to provide access to the light socket. Be very careful with the socket 61001772 since it is no longer available and no satisfactory substitution has been provided by the manufacturer.

Deo W. for Model Number KEBS177WBL-3

The recommended relacement bulb for this unit, listed in the users guide as No 41373175. The replacement bulb I got is much too small for the socket in the back of the oven, which seems to be a standard light bulb socket. . A replacement 40 W appliance bulb will not screw into the socket. It appears that the shoulder of the bulb prevents it from going deep enough to make electical contact, although if I hold the buld in the socket it will light, just won't screw in and stay. A regular bulb will stay and lights o.k. Is it possible that the receiver for the bulb has to be replaced, and if so, how can that be accomplished and where would it be gotten? The diameter of the heavy glass bulb cover is 2 1/4 inches where it screws into the back wall of the oven, on the upper left side. This is very perplexing. Any solution?

1 Answer

Deo, according to the model number given the replacement bulb listed for your model is part number 8009. This is the only replacement the manufacturer offers for your model. Thanks.
