Hello Rob. It sounds like the locking ring in the old agitator has broken. You will need to order a new agitator 22001821 to repair the issue. Hope this helps.

Brad, the locking screw 22001819 holds the entire agitator assembly down. If the top portion is falling off you will need to order a new assembly 22001821. Thanks!
