Rich D. November 24, 2019 for Model Number KSSC48QTS02 I'm having trouble dispensing ice from the door. When motor that opens the chute flap turns on, the LEDs in the dispenser area dim to the point that they are barely visible. The motor slowly opens the flap, but sometimes not completely. When the motor stops, the LEDs turn back on. After a few seconds, the same process happens as the motor tries to close the flap - sometimes it gets there, sometimes not. If I happen to be dispensing water when the close sequence starts, the valve shuts off too while the motor is running. The refrigerator display/lights are unaffected. I tried replacing the flap door motor but nothing changed. I suspect a weak power supply to the motor/valve/LEDs. Tracing the wire harness from the motor/dispenser board and looking at the cabinet wiring diagram, it looks like they are driven from the Electronic Control board marked 6105040 part #AP6007276 on P5 connector. I''m not sure if the problem is on that board or possibly the power supply feeding the board. Since the control board is $266, I'm wondering if anyone has seen anything like this and could give me their thoughts before I buy one.
1 Answer Hello Rich, you are correct that the dispenser is controlled by control board WP2318054. However, this model being an older side by side model the wiring in the freezer door for dispenser operation, especially where it exits the door hinge is suspect, and more likely to be causing the symptoms you described. Do a visual check on the wiring and if you have a multimeter check the wires in the door end to end for shorts/continuity. The power supply and control board are usaully not at fault. Read More...
Jim May 31, 2017 for Model Number KSSC36QTS00 My ice dispenser door flap has come loose. It seems like it should just snap back into place but it is difficult due to tight space (may hands are too big). I have not disassembled anything yet. Is there a trick or do I have to disassemble to gain access? Thanks
Jacob February 12, 2017 for Model Number KSSC42QVS03 When the actuator is pressed, the auger motor will always start and pushes ice through the dispenser chute. However, the ice dispenser door does not always open when the actuator is pressed. It will open correctly about half the time and always closes completely after opening. When it does not open, i do not hear the dispenser door motor trying to turn at all. Would you start by replacing the dispenser door motor or the dispenser door solenoid (or both?) Any other suggestions? Thanks
1 Answer Hello Jacob. It sounds like the issue is more with the door motor on the unit. You would be best to start with replacing it on the unit. Read More...
Tom December 26, 2016 for Model Number KSSO42QTX02 The ice dispenser door has a steady drip coming from it. Do you think the door is not sealing well? What parts do I need to order to get this fixed. Ice still comes out as expected, but am getting a lot of frost buildup in the chute and next to the ice bucket.
1 Answer Tom, This issue would most likely be caused by a faulty motor on the ice dispenser. The part number for the motor will be WPW10205979. Read More...
