Klaus, No, a filter bypass plug is not needed for your model refrigerator. When you remove the filter, the control head will "automatically" activate the control tabs and the water will bypass the filter chamber. " If the water pressure is less than what is required, the flow of water from the water dispenser could decrease or ice cubes could be hollow or irregular shaped. If your refrigerator has a water filter, it may further reduce the water pressure when used in conjunction with a reverse osmosis system. Remove the water filter. See “Water Filtration System.”

Hello Barbara, While the unit should dispense unfiltered water normally by simply removing the filter, it is not recommended to connect the refrigerator to an RO system since it takes a minimum of 40 to 120 lbs, of water pressure to properly close the water valve. An RO system commonly drops water pressure to about 20 lbs. of water pressure so this will normally cause the water valve to close too slowly which overfills the icemaker and will cause a dribble from the water dispenser after dispensing the water.

Haney for Model Number KSCS25FKSS02

My drinking water and water to fridge is filtered. I have a new filter in the fridge, but the pressure to the water in the door is very low, & ice maker not making ice. If I take out the filter the unit leaks water. I do not have the plug, will removing the filter and putting plug in place assist with pressure to water in door and ice maker? I opened up the back of fridge where the water valve is and there is no water coming through to the line that flows to ice maker.

1 Answer

Haney, This issue will most likely be caused by a faulty filter housing that is not allowing the water to pass through.
