This dishwasher circulation pump and motor drives wash water through the spray arms for effective cleaning. Replacing a failed wash motor restores strong spray pressure and consistent cleaning performance throughout the cycle.

  • Circulates water through the spray arms to wash and rinse dishes
  • Maintains proper flow and pressure from the sump to all spray arms
  • Direct replacement for a seized, noisy, or non-running wash motor
  • Common symptoms: poor cleaning, no spray action, or humming/buzzing during wash
What's included: One circulation pump and motor assembly. Install notes:
  • Disconnect power at the breaker and shut off water supply before servicing.
  • Access is from the bottom/front; many models require removing the toe panel and/or sliding the dishwasher out.
  • Connect the wiring, seat the pump seal fully in the sump, and lock the assembly in place per your model's procedure.
  • After reassembly, run a brief fill-and-wash to check for leaks and proper spray action.

Questions & Answers

For Whirlpool Circulation Pump And Motor (Dishwasher) (Part Number: OEM18070065)

Tom, You will want to check to see if there is power getting to the drain pump. If there is then check to make sure that there is nothing clogged in the drain hose or in the pump. Also check to make sure that the impeller is not damaged. If there is no clog or damaged impeller then this would most likely be a faulty pump if there is power getting to it. If there is not power then the control board would likely be the issue.

Tim, Make sure that the unit is filling properly with water which should be just below the heater on the unit. If this checks ok then check to make sure that the micro filter is not clogged and nothing clogged in the pump or the outlet cover. Also check the spray arms to make sure that there is not damaged to it.

Rick for Model Number WDF540PADB0

My dishwasher isn't cleaning. It's filling with water, running through the cycles, draining, and then showing as washed. I don't think water is going through the spray arms. The spray arms aren't clogged. I'm thinking the pump and motor may be bad. Is there something else I should look at first? If I pull the pump and motor assembly is there a way I can test them? Is it possible for the pump and motor to be clogged? If the dishwasher is draining does that mean the pump is good or is that another part that drains the dishwasher?

Hello Rick, There are two pumps on this unit, the circulation pump W11133712 and the drain pump WPW10348269, so if it drains it has nothing to do with the water circulation. You need to verify that the heating circuit is operational and that the water is being circulated. You can check for water circulation by placing a glass in an upright position in each corner of the upper rack and run the unit for 60 seconds. If water is circulating properly, they should fill halfway in this time. The filter W10872845 could also be clogged.

Bob, Check and make sure the water temperature in the bottom of the tub is at least 120 dgrs.F. and the water level is 3/4 to 1 inch deep in the center of the tub(or at least half way up the center spray arm support) on the initial fill cycle of a regular wash cycle. If all's OK, you will need to remove the lower kickplate panel and retrieve the tech data sheet and run the diagnostics test mode and review the error codes logged by the control memory, and operate all the dishwasher components.

Hello Ash, I would recommend running a service diagnostic cycle on the unit to pull the fault codes. This will give you a logical starting place to begin the repair. To invoke the Diagnostics Cycle, perform the following while in standby: ¦ Press any 3 keys in the sequence 1-2-3-1-2-3-1-2-3 with no more than 1 second between key presses. ¦ The Service Diagnostics Cycle will start when the door is closed. ¦ To rapid advance 1 interval at a time, press the Start/Resume key. Rapid advance may skip sensor checks as some checks require 2 complete intervals. NOTE: While you are in the Diagnostic Cycle, the Start/Resume feature is turned off (for example, Auto Resume after door interrupts) and the Start/Resume key becomes an individual advance key. ¦ Invoking Service Diagnostics clears all status and last run information from memory and restores defaults so be sure to annotate all fault codes. It also forces the next cycle to be a sensor calibration cycle. ¦ Last Ran cycles and options returned to default (Normal Cycle with Heated Dry option). ¦ Last Ran Delay returns to the lowest delay increment. ¦ Calibration cycle may force an extra rinse to occur prior to final rinse (to assure clear water), then calibrates the OWI and the fill amount during the final rinse. ¦ Operating state returns to Standby upon completing or terminating the Service Diagnostics cycle.

Hello Bob. Check and make sure the filters are clean and if so, then you will need to check the water level. If they are low, you will need to order and replace the water valve WPW10327249 on the unit.
