Rohan P Troy , OH January 30, 2022 Appliance: Whirlpool Dishwasher WDTA50SAHV0 No water in the dishwasher. As mentioned, our Whirlpool Dishwasher would complete the cycle but Tablet pretty much sat in the Soap Dispenser Box nor there was any sign of water inside the Dishwasher. This happened 2 - 3 times. Hence decided to dive into what the fix was. After reviewing a bunch of Youtube Videos, understood first how a typical Dishwasher operates and what are the basic checks it does before water is let inside. So it typically first checks whether Door S/w got activated, followed by Float Switch activation, thereafter the Water Inlet Valve activation. Once it was pulled outside and was on its back, checked the continuity of the Float S/w and it was good. I didn't check the Door S/w, since a lot more would have to be removed. Then took out the Inlet Valve. Videos were commenting to check the Inlet Valve Solenoid "continuity" but that is not a good check. Measuring the "Resistance" (Ohms) value could tell whether it is good or bad. Mine was @ 1.34k Ohms. So Solenoid was fine. But the Plunger which this Solenoid activates (Solenoid - Plunger, everything is one assembly) was either stuck since it had water inside or was plainly stuck. By blowing some air it did loosen up. Reinstalling, hooking up the Water Hose, and firing back up, water started coming out. But in order for the plunger to not get stuck again, decided to replace it anyway. Btw, the "Resistance" value of the new Water Inlet Valve Solenoid was very close to what I had. Hence Solenoid was in good working condition. Perhaps water inside the Plunger might be the issue. So the part was an exact replacement of the original and assembly was very straightforward. Just troubleshooting took some time. Once you know where the problem is, replacement is just 30 - 45 mins, tops, depending upon difficulty of Water Valve access. Keith D Sappington , MO August 16, 2021 No water. We replaced the valve but it still didn't work. I checked the float switch and it was working fine. Being disappointed that the $70 part didn't fix the problem and everything checked out fine so I googled our dishwasher over and over for some blog and found one about resetting the dishwasher by unplugging or turning off the circuit beaker for 1 minute to reboot the unit. THAT WAS THE PROBLEM. WORKS FINE NOW. Please change your website to list resetting the unit as the first thing to try. #1. Try resetting/rebooting the unit. #2. Replace the water inlet valve. #3 Test the float switch.
