Armand December 12, 2012 for Model Number Whirlpool gas dryer LG8861XWQ My flame sensor 338906 has two wires, white and blue. which one goes to which connector on the unit. The top tab is long and goes the length of the sensor. The short tab is just long enough for the connector to attach. I think the blue goes to the long one and the white to the short one. I just am not 100% sure.
1 Answer Hello Armand, The flame sensor should be marked with possibly a 1 and 2 or FS1 FS2. The white goes to the 2 terminal which should be the small and the blue goes to the 1 terminal large. Read More...
Bob November 22, 2012 for Model Number 11072822100 no flame replaced ignitor repirman looked at and all he said was it needed a sensor and the only thing called a sensor is the flame sensor will that flame sensor cause the ignitor not to glow i sure hope so because i bought one and going to install later today if this dont work do you have any other ideas
1 Answer Bob, Yes, a flame sensor WP338906 with an "open" circuit, would keep the igniter from glowing. Since you've replaced the igniter, you shouldn't have an issue, and the other possibility would be no voltage to the gas valve, or a faulty set of gas valve coils, but these aren't that common an issue. Brad November 09, 2012 for Model Number LG8219W2 Both wires to the flame sensor are blue, which one goes where?
1 Answer Hello Brad, The flame sensor is either open or closed so the two wires cannot be crossed. It doesn't matter which terminal you put the wires on since the circuit doesn't care which way the current flows through its' contacts. Read More...
Scott October 28, 2012 for Model Number ngd4500vq gas Dryer only heats for 10 minutes and will not relight on any setting. It has a new ignitor and new thermostat and all other sensors check out to your specs. Any ideas? I'm thinking the flame sensor, but it checks out ok when cold.
1 Answer Hello Scott, Based on the information provided, it appears that your secondary coil 279834 for your gas valve is bad. When the unit first comes on the main coil and secondary coil kick in. When it gets going the main cuts out and the secondary is supposed to keep unit going. When this coil is bad it will not allow the unit to reignite. Read More...
Sam October 20, 2012 I have a maytag Neptune gas dryer. The dryer was heating up once, but wouldn't reignite. I replaced the gas valves - same issue. Replaced the thermostat - same problem. Replaced the control panel - problem worsened as the dryer no longer heated once. Replaced the flame sensor - still won't heat even once. Replaced the igniter - it sparked a lot and the metal fell off (faulty igniter?). Any other suggestions?
1 Answer Hello Sam, Of course I am working with the handicap of no model number, but I would guess that if the ignitor fell off, it was faulty. You need to replace the ignitor and the coils on the safety valve. If this doesn't correct the issue, the gas valve has failed. Read More...
John October 18, 2012 for Model Number LGR4634JQ2 The flame on the dryer lights with a small flame but goes after after a minute or two. The dryer works but has no heat on any cycle. have no idea what part it could be. I'd appreciate your advice.
1 Answer Hello John. You will need to test the thermostats and the flame sensor and make sure they are good. They should read closed for continuity. Also, check the igniter and make sure it is getting hot enough to light the gas. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter for the testing procedures. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Chris October 06, 2012 for Model Number 110.7693269276932 My dryer is not heating up. I checked my flame sensor and my hi limit thermostat I found out my flame sensor is bad but my hi limit thermostat is good. To be able to make sure my flame sensor is bad, do I have to hook up my dryer to the gas line?
1 Answer Hello Chris. No, the flame sensor WP338906 should read closed on the unit with or without gas. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Robert August 20, 2012 for Model Number Maytag SDG4606AWW How do I test my existing flame sensor to verify if it is failed?
1 Answer Hello Robert, Put the test meter on the RX1 scale and test from one terminal to the other. If it's good it will read just like you touched the two meter leads directly together. This is called zero resistance, (continuity). If the flame sensor is good it will have zero resistance. Read More...
Lou August 15, 2012 for Model Number 11078632700 No heat situation. At first I would have flame for 6 minutes then it would go out. Then I would have glow with no flame. I confirmed fuse was good and have proper venting. I replaced the coil set and now I have glow only which goes out in 20 seconds and repeats. Flame sensor?
1 Answer Hello Lou, If you have changed the coils on the safety valve, the safety valve WP8318277 is the culprit. Read More...
Bombay June 28, 2012 for Model Number Maytag dg410 Ignitor glows but does not start flame. Replaced ignitor and still no flame. What should I try next flame sensor or coils?
1 Answer Hello Bombay. Check the coils 279834 and see if they test good. You can test the coils using a multi-meter MA-DM1. The two prong coil will read 1,000-1,300 ohms, and the three prong coil will read 1,300-1,400 ohms across prongs 1&2, and 500-600 ohms across prongs 1&3. Test the coils after running the dryer for about 10 minutes.
