Sealmann July 15, 2014 for Model Number A8640 When replacing the AP4024732 seal, what are the most important considerations to make a successful install? I have read on other websites that shims are needed to hold up the inner tub. My old seal is bulged up at the point of the leak and there is a small rust spot just below the clamp. The clamp appears to be in good condition(washer is located in a laundry room). Thanks!
1 Answer Hello Sealmann. When you install the tub cover seal 211232 the groove in the seal should face UP(so you can see it) then install the clamping ring. A quick note : make sure there is a 3/8 to 5/8 inch gap between the top of the spin tub and the bottom side of the tub cover, the tub can contact the bottom of the cover and not spin. Read More...
