Stanton March 02, 2023 for Model Number Whirlpool WDP540HAMZ I have a granite countertop. I have the needed side-mount bracket. I see the slots in the metal frame where the brackets are supposed to clip into. However, there are no pre-drilled holes in the sides of the plastic tub of my dishwasher. Am I supposed to drill my own holes? How do I cover them to prevent leaks later?
1 Answer Stanton, I would not suggest drilling any holes, the installation, here instructions that came with the dishwasher have all the instructions, here is an example: For Side Attachment: Break end of bracket (see the installation instructions ref#37 A. Scored line for stainless steel tub models B. Scored line for plastic tub models Break off the end of the bracket along the scored line using pliers. Install bracket Bend tabs Push the bracket into the slot on the side of the dishwasher and bend the tab in toward the side of the dishwasher so that it keeps the bracket in place. Repeat this step for the other side of the dishwasher. (see installation instructions for illustrations) NOTE: Install wood shims to the inside of the cabinets if the gap between the sides of the cabinet and the sides of the dishwasher is greater than 1/2" (13 mm) on each side. Secure Dishwasher in Cabinet Opening Double-check dishwasher alignment in cabinet opening Check that the dishwasher is still level front to back and side to side in the cabinet opening. Open the dishwasher door and place a towel over the pump assembly and spray arm of the dishwasher. For some models, you may have to remove the lower dish rack. This will keep screws from falling into the pump area when you are securing the dishwasher to the countertop or cabinet. Secure the dishwasher Screw to the side cabinet Open the dishwasher door to prepare for securing the dishwasher to the countertop or side cabinet. Read More...
Michael September 07, 2020 for Model Number WDT710PAHZ1 I need to side mount my dishwasher since my countertop is not conducive for top mounting. However, this model does not have any kind of side plugs/holes through which I could send a screw through the mounting bracket and then cabinet as I've seen in a number of installation videos. If I drill a hole in the side of the dishwasher to mount the dishwasher, this shouldn't compromise the integrity of the dishwasher if the hole is in front of the rubber seal lining the dishwasher, right? Could the screws stop the door from closing properly? Are there any better ways to side mount this particular model?

Mick April 11, 2020 Will the filler strips on either side of my Dishwasher be strong enough to support a side-mounted dishwasher or will the filler strips pull off when I open the dishwasher?

Jim January 10, 2020 for Model Number DU1055XTVQ5 I have a granite countertop. So I need to use the side mount bracket 8212560 from whirlpool. I see the slots in the metal frame where the brackets are supposed to clip into. However there are no pre-drilled holes in the sides of the plastic cabinet of my dishwasher. Am I supposed to drill my own holes? How do I cover them to prevent leaks later?
1 Answer Jim, the unit should not need any holes drilled as the brackets should be far enough towards the front that screws should just miss the frame. The video found at the link https://www.appliancepartspros.com/whirlpool-side-mounting-bracket-8212560-ap3953705.html can assist with mounting the side bracket kit. Read More...
