Tom March 31, 2022 for Model Number Kitchen Aide KOCE500ESS11 Support W10909479 / AP6034270 used to hold up the convection heating element in the microwave/convection section of my Kitchen Aide Oven/Microwave/Convection combo is described two ways by those who rated its performance. One reviewer indicated that the ceramic part fit into a slot and was rotated to lock it in place. Another reviewer said it fastened with a stud secured by pushing a flat control nut over the stud from the inside of the unit (and the picture in the description supports this design. Which is it? My oven has a rectangular hole, which would support the "rotate and lock" description. If the part requires a control nut to be slipped onto it from above, much disassembly of the unit is required. What's the correct answer?
1 Answer Tom, there is a retaining bracket that comes with the support that pushes onto the neck of the support. This bracket is what would sit on the other side of the wall where the support goes. While it can be possible to install the bracket from inside the cavity by rotating it in place, the most reliable method would be to remove the top panel so that the cavity can be accessed from both sides for installation. Frederick July 06, 2020 for Model Number KEMS308SSS05 In anticipation of a difficult repair to replace the ceramic clip that holds the convection heating element, can you just remove the convection heating element and use the microwave just as a microwave?

Bandele October 15, 2017 for Model Number KEMS308SSS04 I bought a replacement microwave Support bracket because the original broke. The new part comes with a metal clip that is too big to go through the slot in the top of the microwave. It seems that the only way to fix it is to remove the entire unit and access the slot from above. Are there instructions on how to do this? Do I need to remove the entire microwave and oven assembly and take apart the top of the microwave? This seems like an unacceptable solution to replacing a part that was originally very simple to install.

Thomas T May 31, 2017 for Model Number KEMS308SSS02 KitchenAid Model # KEMS308SSS02, Porcelain bracket that supports the upper heating element in the combination microwave/oven... Bracket broke. I ordered a replacement one, which came as the one described/pictured (part # AP6034270, bracket with metal attachment tab). However, in my combination microwave/oven the rectangular opening in the top the bracket is supposed to fit into isn’t wide enough to allow me to insert the metal tab; the broken original one-piece porcelain one had a smaller “throat” between the bracket and the tab the allowed me to insert the tab and then twist the bracket 90 degrees to support the heating element. Is there a different part number I can order? (The opening the bracket is supposed to fit into also isn’t long enough for the metal tab to insert it and turn the piece 90 degrees, but since the bracket “throat” is too long to turn that’s separate problem. Bottom line is the metal tab is too long/too wide for the opening it’s supposed to fit in. The only way I could see making it work would be to somehow remove/disassemble the microwave/oven, insert the porcelain bracket, and attach the metal tab from the top.)
