This door interlock microswitch detects when the microwave door is fully closed and allows the unit to run only under safe conditions. Replacing a worn switch restores reliable starting and consistent operation tied to the door latch.

  • Monitors the door-latch position and completes the safety interlock circuit when the door is closed
  • Helps prevent operation with the door open
  • Common symptoms: microwave won't start or stops when the door is moved; requires pushing/jiggling the door to run
  • Contributes to "runs but no heat" or light/fan behavior that changes as the door is opened/closed
What's included: One door interlock microswitch Install notes:
  • Unplug the microwave before service; internal high-voltage components can retain a dangerous charge
  • Access the switch at the door-latch assembly; transfer wires one at a time to the new switch to maintain correct positions
  • Ensure the actuator aligns with the door latch and that the switch clicks freely when opening/closing the door
  • After reassembly, test with a microwave-safe cup of water to ensure proper operation
Note: Many microwaves use multiple door switches; each is sold individually.

Art, with the microwave unplugged, the vent grille will need to be removed. This will allow access to be able to remove the user interface control panel and grant access to the microwave door switches. There are screws mounted to the front behind the door that can be removed to allow for the microswitch bracket to be removed, allowing for an easier switch change out. It is recommended to change each switch at a time while moving the wires from the original switch to the new switch before moving to another set.

Hello Judy, you will want to check the strikers on the door to see if they are still intact. Unfortunately if they are damaged the manufacturer has discontinued the door assembly and we no longer have any left in stock. Sorry!

John, You will want to check the door switches on your unit. There should be continuity with the door open on the upper and lower switches and no continuity on the middle switch. With the issue that you are having then one of these door switches will be the issue but if they check ok then the issue will be a faulty control board.
