Hello Jake, The exhaust duct being clogged will contribute to the timer failure. You see, heat is electrical and electronic components number one enemy. One thing that I would definitely check is the power supplied at the receptacle. The transformer on the pole can be out of calibration and if too much or too little voltage is supplied, it will cause issues. With too little voltage, excessive current flow will exist, causing premature failures. With too much voltage available, insufficient current will exist, also wreaking havoc on the electrical circuit. I would check this before checking the appliance itself to avoid un-necessicary parts purchases.

Terry, Apparently you have a voltage supply issue. Most likely a loose connection, or wiring issue to the dryer. We sent you a basic wiring diagram, so you can visualize and track the voltage through the dryer circuits and switches. Good Luck and Thanks

Terry, This is a "normal" operation. When the coin slide moves in and the timer cam moves, it closes the circuit on timer switch "A" . When the switch circuit closes, and feeds 120 VAC to both the temperature selector switch, to the "SW" and "AH1" terminals to control the temperature, Hi, Med, Lo. It also supplies "L1" voltage to the motor thermal fuse and motor. The question would be why only 58 VAC ? are you sure you have 220-240 volts to the dryer, and 120 VAC on the yellow wire terminal on the timer switch "A" ? If you have 120 VAC on the yellow wire terminal and 58 VAC on the other wire out of the timer, You'd have a bad timer switch,a nd will need the timer 279737 . If you have 58 VAC to the timer switch, then you have a loose connection, damaged wire, or improper power supply issue. Good Luck and Thanks

Hi Chuck. Yes, If the timer contacts are shorted internally, it will keep the timer running. The power starts from there. Part # 279737. Thank You.
