Rufus December 10, 2011 for Model Number Keye677BWH3 lo0king at the back of the timer - on the left side is a blk wire and a red wire - when the dryer is on with the motor running there is no voltage drop across these wires and heater does not come on - is the timer bad? or is it the motor sw? how do you check?
1 Answer Rufus, Here's a way to check the voltage , be careful . Disconnect the red wire from the timer terminal, start the dryer in a heated dry setting, at the timer: check the black wire on the terminal to chassis ground(L1) should have 120 VAC. Check the empty red terminal on the timer to chassis ground, should have 120VAC, No voltage faulty timer. Check the end terminal of the red wire to chassis ground, should have 120 VAC , no voltage would indicate an open circuit or wire in the heat circuit( thermostat, heater or motor switch) You'll need to check until you find the 120 VAC in the circuit and replace the inoperative part.
