Todd August 17, 2024 for Model Number MFI2568AES Whirlpool side by side refridgerator. I have a new defrost timer model W10822278. Can you tell me where the black wire goes on the timer? Any and all help would be appreciated.

Daryl July 31, 2024 for Model Number ED5GTGXNQ11 Whirlpool side by side. I replaced the defrost heater, defrost thermostat and defrost timer. The defrost timer has a black wire. The original had no wire. After installing the timer and connecting the black wire as a ground it would not turn on. Put back in the old timer and the unit works. The condenser coil was icing up and rather than test the parts I chose to just replace them all. Luckily the defrost timer is easy to access.
1 Answer Daryl, the black wire of the defrost timer W10822278 would need to be connected to terminal 1 for the model provided. The wire being placed as a ground wire can potentially cause operational error. Read More...

Giwatcher May 29, 2024 for Model Number 1067625463 I am so sorry for my confusion. This is a 40+ yo coldspot/kenmore 1067625463, replacing the defrost timer. My wiring harness, from top to bottom with the timer mounted on the back wall, is piggyback white at the top, next is orange, next is black, and at the bottom is pink. I do not think the pink is red, but since there is a white and a black wire, I am not clear where to place the loose black wire. The internet is filled with this question and answers, but I'm not sure it matches my wiring situation. Can you help with this? Also, if placed on the wrong terminal, 1 vs 2, what happens?
1 Answer Hello Giwatcher, thank you for contacting APP, From the information I have the loose Black motor terminal lead wire should be on terminal 2, the only real difference should be Cumulative vs Continuous Defrost Timer. Read More...
