Barry April 23, 2014 for Model Number RT12DKXEW00 I just bought a new evaporator fan from you because mine was squeeling now the fridg doesnt get cold but the freezer is fine the fan is spinning but doesnt seem to be sending much air to the fridg
1 Answer Hello Barry. Check the damper from the freezer to the fresh food and make sure it is not closed or blocked. If it is good, the motor may not be running fast enough. If not, check and make sure the blade is not binding the motor. Read More...

Dan July 09, 2013 for Model Number whirlpool er6ahkxpq00 Freezer works fine. Ice builds up on back and into the air chute and duct tower then refrigerator stops cooling. Seems that ice blocks the air flow to the refrigerator. Turn unit off and allow ice to melt and plug back in and every thing freezes and cools until the cycle repeats. Can you tell me what needs to be replaced?
1 Answer Dan, If the coils in the freezer are being impacted with ice then the issue would be a defrost failure. For this issue you will want to do a continuity test on the defrost heater and defrost thermostat. If they both show continuity then you will need to replace the defrost timer 4388931. If there is no continuity then you would need to replace the part that does not have continuity. Read More...
Xin May 23, 2013 for Model Number RT18BKXKQ00 Hi, My refrig had deforst system breakdown. One repairman replaced the heater and thermostat. It did not works and ice built up again in 3 weeks. Now I think defrost timer need to be replaced, it looks like a circuit board, I am wondering if I could test it before replacing it. Also how to access it? looks like just 2 screws holding the enclosure. Is the timer circuit board a plug and play? need any wire? Before I replace the defrost timer, Could I check the defrost heater and thermostat? Could I do it by checking continuity? Thanks!
1 Answer Hello xin. Do a continuity check on the heater and the thermostat. If good, replace the board in the unit. Read More...
Mike September 28, 2012 for Model Number KTRI18KBAL00 Fridge works for about a week then gets warm for 2-4 days, still a little cold but not enough to keep food good, then gets cold again. Doesnt seem like fan is working when its warm. Freezer is working and blowing most of the time but one time last warm cycle it got warm and food started to melt. Thinking it's the defrost timer?
1 Answer Hello Mike. Based on the information you provided, it sounds like the unit is sticking in the defrost cycle. You may need to replace the defrost timer 4388931 if so. Read More...
Rudetemp July 25, 2012 What is the difference between the Whirlpool AP3109393 ADC control and the AP3109394 ADC control? Are they interchangeable?
1 Answer Hello Rudetemp, The exact differences are only known by the engineers who designed them. Since they are not interchangeable as they are not listed for any of the same models, they will have to have different defrost characteristics, especially since one is listed for larger cubic foot displacement units. This means that the duration between defrost cycles and the length of the defrost cycles have to be different because of the difference between the sizes of the units they are designed for. These type questions are best asked to the manufacturer who designed them. They are not interchangeable. Read More...
Boomer June 01, 2012 for Model Number rt18bkxkq00 Not cooling, compressor kicking on, in the inside part of the freezer in the back it is cold, but the fan is not running. I have taken the fan out and tested, and the fan works fine. From the wiring diagram, it appears that I need to replaced"electronic defrost control", because theres a relay within that printed circuit board, and the diagrams have the fan running to that board. Also, the light does not work (new bulb, tested the switch), and that also runs into that board. Any additional ideas.
1 Answer Hello Boomer. Yes, if the board is not sending power to the fan motor, replace the defrost timer 4388931. Read More...
T G July 30, 2011 for Model Number rt18bkxkxq02 fridge runs but freezer and fridge are hot, compresor and coil are not hot what part should I get?
1 Answer TG, First determine if the compressor is or is not running. Move the fridge out so you can get to the back of the unit and unplug the power cord and remove the lower compartment cover(if present) for a few minutes. visually check the wiring to the compressor and start device When you plug the power cord back in you should be able to hear and feel the compressor start, or you'll hear a rather loud "click" noise from the overload protector on the compressor. I take for granted you have checked the back wall of the freezer compartment for a frost build up. If the compressor does start and run, we need to suspect a loss of refrigerant. If it makes the loud click noise, we have to suspect a bad start device or compressor, if it doesn't start, we have to suspect a bad cold control or defrost timer. Thanks Read More...
