This mechanical timer sequences your washer's cycles, routing power to the motor, pump, and valves. Replacing a failing timer can restore proper advancing through wash, rinse, and spin so cycles complete reliably. What it does:

  • Controls the order and duration of fill, agitate, drain, and spin functions
  • Directs power to components based on the selected cycle and options
  • Common failure symptoms include cycles that won't advance, stopping mid-cycle, or no agitation/spin in specific settings
  • Requires manual knob advancement to proceed through stages when failing
What's included:
  • 1 timer assembly
Install notes:
  • Disconnect power before servicing
  • Access the timer in the control console; photograph or label wire positions
  • Transfer wires one at a time to the new timer, mount it, and reinstall the control knob/dial as designed
  • Run a test cycle to ensure the timer advances through all stages

Vicky, Your first check needs to be at the lid switch 3949247V and lid switch strike actuator. Make sure you hear a "click" when you raise and lower the lid several times. Check the hinges and plastic hinge bearings in the top too make sure they are not loose or damaged. Thanks and Good Luck

Nixon, You probably should have checked the cold solenoid and cold water supply to the fill valve first. The rinse cycle is automatically cold water, no cold fill. no rinse cycle. Unless you're positive you got all the contacts and terminals back properly, I would replace the timer as well, once you've checked the water supply and fill valve. Thanks and Good Luck

Hi K. Take the tube off the water level switch and blow back into the tub. Did you feel any restrictions blown back into the trub? If so then you need to clean the tub with washer cleaner part # is WX10X10010. Now take another tube and hook it up temporarilly on the pressure switch. Turn on the washer in reg. cycle and blow back into the hose towards the pressure switch, has the unit started now? If so you will need a pressure switch part # is W10820051. Thank you.
