The Timer is an OEM part for Whirlpool washing machines. This component is responsible for controlling the various cycles of the washing machine, ensuring that each phase, from washing to rinsing to spinning, occurs at the correct time and duration.

Causes of a bad timer can include electrical faults, wear and tear on the internal mechanisms, or damage due to power surges or moisture exposure. Over time, these issues can interfere with the timer's ability to accurately manage the washing cycles, leading to performance problems.

Symptoms of a bad timer include:

  • The washing machine not advancing through cycles
  • Incorrect cycle durations
  • The machine getting stuck in one part of the cycle
  • Unresponsive or erratic timer controls

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

Questions & Answers

For Whirlpool Timer (Part Number: OEM18039267)

Jim, When you had the drive tube apart, did you check the brake shoes 285438 ,for a possible drag, excess wear, or clean and lube the rollers and assembly ? Did you check between the outer tub and spin basket, for a stuck article. There's a slight possibility the spin tube bearings are worn , but there is usually a noise in the spin cycle, do you recall a noise ? Are you sure there is a pause before the washer attempts to change cycles and starts to spin, and that the tub is attempting to spin, This would indicate an issue in the timer contacts, if theres no pause or if the washer continues to agitate, until the lid is raised and lowered. Good Luck and Thanks
