Restore accurate cycle control with this washer timer. It sequences power to the drive motor, pump, and water inlet valves so the machine fills, washes, drains, and spins at the proper times.

  • Advances the cycle through fill, wash, rinse, drain, and spin stages
  • Sends power to the motor, pump, and inlet valves in the correct order and duration
  • Safe symptoms: washer won't start, won't advance, stops mid-cycle, runs indefinitely, or skips rinse/spin
  • Helps when cycles stall or the dial turns without moving the cycle forward
What's included: Timer assembly. Install notes:
  • Unplug the washer before servicing
  • Open the control console to access the timer; note or photograph wiring
  • Transfer wires one at a time to matching terminals on the new timer
  • Reuse your existing knob/dial and mounting hardware; align the timer shaft before tightening

Questions & Answers

For Whirlpool Washer Timer (Emerson/Delta) (Part Number: OEM18039459)

Hello Mike. This model uses a water valve with a thermistor on it. It is common for one to do this on the warm cycle. The hot water comes in to break the soap down then the cold comes in to wash the clothes. Clothing cleans much better in cold water than it does in hot or warm water. If your sure the unit didn't do this before, then you may need to replace the temp switch. However, according to the manufacturer it is designed this way.

Bob, With being able to turn the timer and the unit go into the spin sounds like the contacts on the timer for the spin may be bad and sticking. This would require the timer to be replaced.

Brian for Model Number 110.28322700

Ok so im attempting to check the water inlet valve theres 2 bigger plugs and a smaller plug. The 2 bigger ones (bottom clear plug with a red/yellow wire and a white wire neither have power to them) (middle plug red one have a white wire no power and a black wire with power) and finally the top plug smaller one which is white with a yellow/red wire with no power and a yellow/black wire with power so can you guide me further please and thank you

Hello Brian. It depends on the temp setting of the cycle, but hot should read across brown and white and cold should read across yellow/red and white. The yellow/black is a bi-metal for the valve.

Hello Brian. The first thing you will test for is power to the unit. Next you will test for power going to the water valve. If there is power there and the unit does not fill, you will need to replace the water valve. If there is no power to the water valve, then you will test the pressure switch on the unit. If there is no power to the violet wire of the pressure switch, then you will need to replace the timer. Make sure you do all these test with the timer turned on in a fill position. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html

John, You'd want to start by checking the lid and lid switch assembly WP8318084. If the loading lid is loose and shifts around in the opening, you would loose contact with the lid switch WP8318084 or the lid switch could have a loose connection from the wire harness.

Hello David, It is very possible for this to be a timer issue. This could also be a lid switch issue or a harness issue. Of course, these are guesses since we have no model number. To diagnose more precisely, we need the model number from the units' I.D. tag. Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter.

Hello Paul. If the lid switch and the lid strike is good, and the pressure switch is turning off the water and not over flowing, you will need to replace the timer on the unit for the issue you are having with the unit.

Paul, You will want to test the lid switch on the unit to ensure that it is good. With the door closed the lid switch should have continuity. If not then you would need to replace the switch.
