This timer controls the sequence and duration of cycles, automatically advancing your appliance through each step. Replacing a worn timer restores consistent cycle progression and dependable operation. What it does:

  • Routes power to components at the correct time to start, run, and stop each cycle stage
  • Advances through positions and stops at OFF when the cycle completes
  • Common symptoms: cycle won't advance or gets stuck, won't start, runs too long, or ends early
  • Also addresses intermittent operation, clicking/buzzing from the timer, or a knob that turns without advancing

  • 1 timer assembly
Install notes:
  • Disconnect power before servicing
  • Photograph wiring and move one lead at a time to the matching terminals to prevent miswiring
  • Mount the timer, align the shaft, and reinstall the knob/dial as removed
  • Run a short test cycle to ensure proper advancement

Ann, You will want to check the venting of the unit to make sure that the vent is not restricted but if the entire unit is shutting down then this sounds like it would be something causing a drag on the motor which would cause the motor to overheat and shut down. Check rollers and felt to make sure that they are good.

Denise, The unit sometimes heating and sometimes not could be an issue with the motor of the unit or a timer issue. There is a centrifugal switch that may be making intermittently that would cause the unit to not heat if not making. If this checks ok then the issue would be a faulty timer.
