This electromechanical replacement timer restores timed cycle control for ovens, ranges and other Whirlpool appliances that use a mechanical timing mechanism. It provides reliable cycle advancement so settings run and finish as expected. What it does:

  • Advances the appliance's timed cycles and signals control stages to start or stop heating/motor circuits
  • Replaces a worn or non-running mechanical timer that no longer advances or keeps time
  • Common symptoms fixed: timer knob won't turn, clock/timer doesn't run, cycles stop or fail to advance
  • Works as the appliance's primary timing/control interface on compatible models
What's included:
  • One electromechanical timer assembly
Install notes:
  • Disconnect power (unplug or switch off breaker) before removing the old timer to avoid shock
  • Installation typically requires removing the control console or panel—handle trim and small parts carefully
  • Avoid bending terminal tabs; ensure all wire connectors are fully seated

For Whirlpool Timer (Electromechanical) (Part Number: OEM18022644)

Hello Patricia. Make sure the vent is clean and there are no kinks in the vent. Set the dryer on timed dry and test for voltage going to the timer motor. If there is voltage there and the motor does not move to turn the timer, you will need to replace the timer WP305448. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. Hope this helps. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html
