This is a dryer control board. This part features the buttons and dials that control the dryer and its functions. It is this component that processes the dryer settings that the user chooses. An easy way to determine that the control board is faulty is if the error code F-02 is displaying on the digital display. If this is the case, the control board buttons and lights will not work. This component could stop working after a period of time due to wear and tear. Unplug the dryer from its power source prior to attempting to replace this part. Wear work gloves. The control board is sold individually. It is a genuine OEM part that is sourced directly from the manufacturer. This part is compatible with dryers that are manufactured by Maytag and Whirlpool.

Questions & Answers

For Whirlpool Control Board (Part Number: OEM18059424)

1 Answer

Jim, Check and make sure the control was not set for the "wrinkle release" option by accident. you have to select and deselect that option or it will operate on all settings until it is de selected. Check the sensor bars and make sure they are clean and present. They are located inside the drum on the front bulkhead at the bottom of the lint filter housing. Use a rag with some rubbing alcohol and run the rag along both bars, to remove any residual softener chemicals or grease/oil, etc from the bars.

I have 2010 Maytag Bravos Electric Dryer Model # MEDB400VQ0. Recently stopped working. Lights on display panel work, but when I press start button, it beeps 3x but doesn't start. Local repairman came and ran diagnostics. He found diagnostic error codes F03 and CO, but neither were on the tech sheet. Shame on Whirlpool/Maytag!! He called Whirlpool Tech Support and they ran diagnostics together. In the end, they could not confirm (only guess) that it may be the User Interface Board AP4701291 or the Main Control Board AP4369604 or BOTH as I'm told the two work together and sometimes both go bad. I saw another comment here about this model where you recommended replacing the more expensive Main Control Board first. Would you advise me to do the same? If this damage is possibly result of power outages/surges, can you tell me if there is a surge protector device that could work with my appliances? Thank you!

Hello Kristy. Yes, it does sound like the unit may have a control issue. However, in most cases, it is the CCU that is bad. It is true in some cases both boards are needed if there was a power surge.

Zack for Model Number MEDB400VQ0

I recently received an electronic control board (AP4701291) for a Maytag dryer model #MEDB400VQO. The received part looks exactly like the one in your drawing for that part number. Looking at the old part mounted in the dryer console the part is held in by 3 tabs on the left end and 1 tab on the right end. These tabs fit over 4 pultruding posts in the console. I was expecting screws. These tabs press fit over the posts very tight and I am scared of breaking them. Is there an easy or trick way of removing the old part. Also looking at your exploded console parts drawing (Model MEDB400QO) it shows a separate part #3 and part #4. On the part I received they appear to be combined. There is no part #4. Any help would be appreciated. Read more: http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/dryer-repair/560585-electronic-control-board-rplacement.html#ixzz3bY0lnSoe http://forum.appliancepartspros.com

Hello Zack. If you look at the top of those tabs, you will see small locking clips. You squeeze those with needle nose pliers and should be able to lift the board and remove it from the unit.

Terry for Model Number MEDB400VQ0

I have a Maytag dryer Model# MEDB400VQ0 that is gets very hot on the outside of the cabinet intermittently. It does this in the 20 min fluff cycle. I have checked the following. 1. Get the dryer vent and no obstructions where found. 2. Checked the heating element and it is OK. No shorts on the heating element. 3. Checked the thermal switch and it seemed OK. I placed the thermal switch on a hot plate and it cycled on and off. Checked it with a multimeter while doing this and seemed to OK as it should. 4. Checked the drum felt and all of it was intact and not loose or worn. 5. Checked the blower fan it was operating OK. 6. I took a thermometer and checked the air temp at the dryer vent and it was high of 140 and low of 124 degrees. It would cycle up and down within this temp range. Can you point me in the right direction in what I need to do to fix this dryer? Thank You Terry Taylor

Terry, If the unit is heating in the fluff cycle, this would sound like it is an issue with the control board. The part number for the control board is WPW10111621.

Gene, We attempted to send you some information, but the e mail was returned. The manufacturer couldn't assist either. improper or erroneous error codes are indicative of a failed or disrupted control board. but in your dryer you have two. We recommend you check the diagnostic codes, if possible. We would recommend you start with the WPW10111621 machine control board first, if you replace anything.

Sew, With the button being pushed in too far the issue will be with the user interface as the interface has a plastic shield over it and the buttons are part of the shield. the shield is not available separately. Part required is WPW10051167.

Tim, To remove the control board of your unit you will remove the 2 mounting screws from the rear of the console. Lift the console off the cabinet and position it off to the side. Disconnect the user interface board cable connector from the machine control board Connector P5. Disconnect the remaining wires from the control board. Remove the hex head screw from the rear of the machine housing. Push the clip on the back and slide the machine control housing to the left and off the mounting bracket and remove the assembly.

Donald, The model number you supplied is incorrect or incomplete, but in general, based on the post information, you have an air flow issue. The dryer wont dry satisfactorily on any setting. You will want to review the installation information that came with the dryer. You may need a" rough" measurement of the "working" vent length. A vent that is too long, or too short can create an issue. You may also need to remove the front panel and check the blower wheel, belt and housing for restrictions as well.
