This is a flexible membrane switch panel that sits behind the dishwasher's control panel overlay, containing the push-button contacts for cycle selection and operation. It registers button presses and sends signals to the control board to start and manage wash cycles. Replace this part if buttons are unresponsive, require excessive pressure to activate, or if the dishwasher intermittently fails to start or change cycles.

For Whirlpool Dishwasher Push-Button Switch Membrane (Part Number: OEM18041544)

Bruce, the main control would need to be tested for 120VAC at the incoming black wire from the wire junction box. If there is not 120VAC, the wire connections would need to be inspected for any loose fittings. If there is voltage, the next step would be to test for a DC voltage signal by placing the red probe of a meter on pin 1 and the black probe on pin 3. There should be a 13VDC reading. If not, then the main control W11035586 has failed. If there is, then the user interface WPW10481128 has failed.

Brian for Model Number KUDS24SEBL2

Different wash cycles do not want to start properly. Currently, I make sure the green finish light is off, then press the start button to begin a normal wash cycle. I don't touch the normal wash button or any other buttons. If other cycle types are selected, or if the green wash complete light is illuminated, the dishwasher is "confused" and doesn't want to start a wash cycle. With this type failure, would I need the insert (2) or (3) switch panel? Thank you!

John,

You will want to check the door switches to ensure that the switches are good. If the door switches check ok then you will need to check the console ribbon harness to see if it is inserted properly in the control board and that they are not damaged. If this checks ok then the issue will most likely be a switch panel that is bad.

Bob,
It would be a good idea to try and shut power down for 30 minutes to the unit to allow reset but if the issue continued then this will most likely be a control board WP9743241 issue.

Buddy,

A flashing key would indicate that the corresponding key is stuck closed. You would want to replace the keypad WP9743241.
