The Water Inlet Valve is an OEM part for Whirlpool washing machines. This valve controls the flow of water into the washer, allowing it to fill with the correct amount of water during the wash and rinse cycles.

Over time, the water inlet valve can become clogged with debris, develop electrical issues, or wear out, leading to problems with the water flow. Causes of a bad water inlet valve include mineral buildup from hard water, internal component failure, or damage to the valve body.

Symptoms of a bad water inlet valve include:

  • The washing machine not filling with water
  • Slow or insufficient water flow into the washer
  • The washer filling with water when it should not
  • Unusual noises during the filling process
  • Leaks around the valve area

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

Claire, To access the water valve you must lift the main top. To do this, there are 2 brackets on the back of the panel. Remove the top screw from the bracket, and the wire harness cover. Slide the top forward about 1/2", while still keeping it lifted push the top back about 1/4" tuilt the top up on the rear hinges. This will give access to the valve.

Hello BeeBop, This does sound like the water valve WPW10683603 sticking or it was operating during a period of low water pressure, since water pressure is all that closes the valve. I would still remove the small hose from the pressure switch in the control panel and blow back through it toward the tub. I should not be stopped up, (you should hear the air escaping into the tub assembly).

Hello Joe. Turn off water and unplug the washer. Then use a flat blade to release the clips under the front corners of the control panel and flip it backwards. Now access the water valve and the unit. Remove the fill hoses and wires from the valve and then you can remove the valve from the unit and install the new valve.

Nancy, This issue would most likely be caused by a faulty shift actuator. The Actuator has a optics sensor that is sensing that the tub is still moving and will not allow the unit to go from spin to done.

Felix, You will want to check the screens on the water valve to make sure that they are not clogged. Also you will want to access the tech sheet and put the unit into a diagnostic and see if there are any error codes that are stored. This will give you an idea of what may be going on with the unit. It sounds like either the water valves are clogged, the control is not sending power to the valve or the valve is faulty.
