The Water Inlet Valve is an OEM part for Whirlpool washing machines. This valve controls the flow of water into the washer, allowing it to fill with the correct amount of water during the wash and rinse cycles.

Over time, the water inlet valve can become clogged with debris, develop electrical issues, or wear out, leading to problems with the water flow. Causes of a bad water inlet valve include mineral buildup from hard water, internal component failure, or damage to the valve body.

Symptoms of a bad water inlet valve include:

  • The washing machine not filling with water
  • Slow or insufficient water flow into the washer
  • The washer filling with water when it should not
  • Unusual noises during the filling process
  • Leaks around the valve area

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

Dr. K. Yes, you can remove the debris screen from the fill valve inlet. Use a pair of needle nose pliers and carefully grip the filter on the "crossbar" and carefully twist and pull the filter out. Once out, use an old toothbrush to clear the screen under running water, and inside out. Use a small flat blade screwdriver to reinstall and seat the filter in the valve inlet. Don't forget to check and clean the screened washers in the end of the fill hose, and "flush " both faucets to clear any residual debris in the water lines.
