This is a Briggs & Stratton Original Equipment 491588S Air Filter Cartridge. The purpose of this filter is to prevent dirt, dust, and debris from contaminating the carburetor and damaging the engine. This flat panel style, pleated paper air filter provides the first line of defense against the destructive effects of dirt ingestion. It is designed for 3.5 through 6.75 HP quantum engines and 625-1575 series engines. Over time, the air filter can get clogged or damaged, and this can lead to reduced engine performance. Locate the air filter cover, unscrew it, and remove the old filter. Make sure to clear out any debris that has found its way into the air filter assembly before inserting the new cartridge. Reattach the air filter cover and secure it with the screws. This replacement part works with generators, lawnmowers, pressure washers, wood chippers, and tillers. Aside from Briggs & Stratton, it is also compatible with specific products from Craftsman, Husqvarna, Lawn-Boy, Toro, Troy-Bilt, Simplicity, Snapper, and Wheel Horse.
