The shoulder screw is used in places where a spacer or bearing surface is needed, since the top half of the screw is unthreaded. These fasteners are often used for guides, pivot points, mounting pins, axles, and even a shaft for bearings and bushings in various MTD engines. With regular use, the screws can wear down or be lost. Always repair the missing hardware promptly with genuine OEM replacements. Disengage the spark plug and wear gloves when performing work on engines for safety. This genuine OEM replacement shoulder screw has been designed to be compatible with machines from MTD, Troy-Bilt, Yard-Man, Yard Machines, Bolens, Cub Cadet, and Craftsman. It can be used for multiple applications and in multiple locations in different models of lawnmowers, tractors, and chippers that use the screw in various applications. Check your parts diagrams for the exact location and use of these screws before ordering. This is sold as an individual unit; order multiple quantities as needed.
With small gasoline-powered tools that require control panels, this hex screw attaches the panel to the handles of the tools. Machined to be durable, important screws such as these take a real beating. In their locations at critical points on the handle, the hex screws are considered "wear items," and thus periodically, they must be replaced. The control panel itself is often a location of extreme forces, jostling, and abrupt movement in unpredictable directions. The constant movement, with sheet metal rubbing against the hex screws from every direction, make wear inevitable. The manufacturers recommend that spare screws of this type be kept on hand if the heavy use of the equipment is expected. Among the gasoline-powered tools that use these screws are snowblowers, yard tractors, mowers, tiller, chippers, shredders, and other tools requiring hand-maneuvered levers. These screws are compatible with a number of equipment brands and manufacturers, including MTD, Ryobi, Poulan, Yard-Man, Bolens, Troy-Bilt, and Yard Machines.

This hex bolt is a necessary component used in a variety of small to medium sized gasoline powered engines used primarily in yard work, gardening, and landscaping. The primary use of this hex bolt is to secure the idler pulley assembly to the body of the machine. The idler pulley functions to engage the turning mechanism of the yard tool when engaged. The power yard tools that require an idler pulley which would use this screw are tillers, riding mowers, yard tractors, tillers, snow blowers and chippers. Engaging the rotating part of the yard tool places a great deal of resistance on the idler pulley, which may eventually result in it needing to be replaced. When replacing the idler pulley assembly, it's important to remember that the attaching hardware, such as the hex bolt, has also experienced a great deal of wear and should be replaced as well. This hex bolt attaches the idler pulley assembly directly to the machine housing and can be removed with a 9/16 wrench. Make sure when replacing the bolt to use a genuine OEM manufactured part that is identical to the manufacturer's original piece. This bolt is compatible with the following brands: Yard-Man, Bolens, Craftsman, Yard Machines, Troy-Bilt, Cub Cadet, Huskee, Ryobi, Murray, MTD, MasterCut, and Montgomery Wards.
This replacement part is an idler pulley. This is a genuine replacement part made by MTD. Pulleys are typically able to connect multiple parts together so they can operate when the engine is powered on. A new idler pulley might be needed if the current one has become stripped over time. Due to the nature of the pulley, it experiences a great deal of friction over time and can begin to malfunction. If the user notices unusual noises coming from the inside of the machine, it can be due to a pulley that has moved out of place. Be sure to refer to the owner's manual for more information on how to replace this part. This is a genuine OEM replacement part. This part is sold individually and is sourced directly from the manufacturer.
