This is a thrust bearing. The thrust bearing is positioned between the lawn mower's spindle and front axle and serves to reduce friction during use. On the bottom of the driveshaft, there is a bolt and washer that need to be removed. Wedge and move the clutch, allowing it to work its way down the driveshaft, then remove it. There is a bearing retainer clip and three bolts that will enable the thrust bearing to be removed.
