Just Pull the screws pop the lid swap the springs "grease them" and put it back together. I would suggest that you have a person help you mostly has a second pair of hands. The lid was over rear springs and it will save you some expletives to have the extra body. I had worn out springs and the load kept becoming unbalanced during spin cycles I just happened to coincide with the Lock mechanism failing. The motor drive for the lock stopped working. To bypass until can get the part. Tear apart the lock and flip the contacts. It will always think it’s locked “Also a pain but you can still do laundry until parts arrive” when it’s not. This is the place to buy parts! I watched the diy videos and had no problems with repair. Took all of 10 minutes to replace both parts! This saved me a very expensive house call! Found out through some other level of trouble shooting that my main board is bad. But this was truly a no brainer repair and was easy.
