Raymond P Kearney , MO January 15, 2016 Appliance: Samsung Refrigerator RFG297HDRS/XAA-0001 Water dispenser would stop working after filter change This had been going on for several years. Thought it was due to switching to non-Samsung filters as it was very hit and miss whether I could get the dispenser working well after a filter change. Dispenser worked great if I removed the filter. It finally got bad enough that it was obvious the filter was not the issue. This turned out to be a pretty easy part replacement. The water filter and tank assembly is held in place by the shelf above and a T shaped tab below. It just slides forward and up after removing the top shelf, disconnecting the electrical connections and disconnecting the hoses. The hoses run directly out the back of the fridge. I used two 1/4" od union connectors to splice the dispenser and ice maker lines on the back of the fridge. Reused the copper fitting on the supply line. When you disconnect the supply line, you can drain the tank in the old assembly by holding down the water dispenser. My original part had 3 electrical connections. The new one has two as seen in the pictures. Everything works and part numbers are identical. So I assume it's just a newer design. Walter R Virginia Beach , VA November 30, 2015 Appliance: Model RFG297HDWPXAA Water dispenser not working suspected bad valves or filter assembly Replaced the water tank/filter assembly. Removing the original took some time because it had to be disconnected from the shelf assembly. Also took it apart in the fridge to disconnect the hoses. Should have just cut the hoses because the new assembly came with hoses and filter pre-installed. New part installation went quickly. Just spliced the new hoses to the existing lines to the ice maker and water dispenser on the door. (had to purchase two 1/4 in plastic tubing connectors) Reused the water inlet line fitting on the new inlet hose. Alfred H Palo Alto , CA September 01, 2019 Water would not dispense even with a new OEM filter Replaced the case water filter. It was fairly straightforward after doing a lot of research online. The replacement part was perfect, however, it was missing (unclear if intentional or not) a brass connector/adaptor for hooking up the white water supply line on the part to the copper supply line from the water source. From the replacement side, it was just a straight tube and I can not reuse the connector from the broken part's supply tube since it is tight-fitting. I had to go to Home Depot to find a 1/4" connector/adaptor, and that added an extra hour to the overall work. Mark S Pearland , TX December 03, 2024 Ice maker wasn't working and water leaking Replaced both the ice maker above and this unit. The video provided by this company for this unit made the job easy. I watched it several times so I knew what to expect and it was easy to follow. I don't know why others bought parts for the water lines as these were identical and even had the black lines marked exactly where they needed to be as in the video. I asked via chat about this, and the person online was extraordinary. I can't recommend this company more. Read More... Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 30-60 minutes Tools: Screwdrivers
