Charles S Katy , TX October 17, 2015 Appliance: Samsung Refrigerator RS269LARS/XAA-0000 The defrost heater seemed to have failed self diagnostic said r defrosting error You can't buy the heater by itself, but you can buy the assembly with the heater. It's very easy with needle-nose pliers to straighten the fins, and remove the heater from the assembly, took less than 10 minutes to cut the wire ties, straighten the fins, and remove the heater. Once the refrigerator was defrosted, it was easy to then remove the broken heater and replace it, took about 30 minutes including defrosting with a hair dryer. It's a bit of work to remove all the shelves, and remove the panel, but the whole process took less than 2 hours and the sealed part of the system (i.e. Freon) didn't need to be touched. Turk B Birmingham , AL September 04, 2016 Appliance: Model RS256SH Evaporator hear coil assembly I paid an appliance service company $79 to come out and diagnose the problem with our refrigerator. They said it the heater coil on the evaporator coil had gone out. However, the heater coil could not be purchased separately. I confirmed this through an internet search and found that the heater coil and evaporator coil came as an assembly and would require the Freon system to be evacuated to install the entire assembly. After they quoted me $495 for the repair (inclusive of the $79) I located the assembly itself and a video on appliancepartspro.com that showed how to dismantle the assembly, remove the heater coil from the assembly and then install the heater coil. The video showed what a simple repair process it was. So I ordered the part for approx $89, paid $12.95 for the guaranteed 2 day delivery and then I simply followed the easy to follow instructions laid out in this video prepared by appliancepartspros.com https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D__htvndaYQ For $180 and a little over two hours of my time the refrigerator is back up and running just fine. Celso G Clearwater , FL June 20, 2016 Appliance: Model SAMSUNG RS269LARS Fridge part not cooling temperature light blinking When this happens the following things can go wrong: The fan, the defrost heater, sensors, or the main control board. I contact AP Pros and they e-mailed me a troubleshoot guide which work wonders for me, so i trimmed down to the defrost heater, which AP Pros also have a video on how to replaced it. SIMPLY AWESOME ALL THE WAY!!!! If you follow my lead you won't have any problems. TIPS ON REPLACING IT: Make sure when you detach the old and new defrost heater, which comes attached on the Assy evaporator- Ref you should be very careful in order to not brake or damage the refrigerant line, do it SLOWLY, also on the brackets at the bottom be very GENTLE on working there so you don't brake it. Other than that follow the instructions and you will be set. The fridge is now working perfectly. Thank you AP Pros!!!! Steve M Conshohocken , PA January 10, 2016 Appliance: Samsung Refrigerator RS269LARS/XAA-0000 Rs269lars/xaa fridge not staying cold (temp light blinking) Followed directions and did the trouble shooting and it told me I had a issue with the heater. http://www.pcrichard.com/images/promos/RS269LA%20-%20RS267LA%20Fast%20track.pdf The evap coil was frosted over. I did confirm the heater was broken (read infinity on Ohms) I was hesitant to try it but when I contacted Samsung they said it would cost anywhere from $500-$700. I decided to try it myself. Found the following links and am grateful for it. https://sites.google.com/site/rnssite/samsung I removed the rivet by placing a regular screwdriver between the sheets then prying it back and forth with a wire cutter. The sheet metal broke right at the rivet. You have to be very careful not to break the solder on the existing refrigerant. it took me about 3 hours from start to finish (it will take you longer if you need to defrost the coil and review the cover. I do love APP and the info they provide. Read More... Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 2+ hours Tools: Pliers, Screwdrivers
