I just slid the new knob into place. Make sure that the thin metal collar from the broken knob is off the shaft on which you will slide the new knob. The thin metal collar is there to reinforce the plastic part that slides over the shaft. Delivery of the knobs was quite prompt and the replacement is easy. Cheryl T Green Bay , WI February 09, 2015 Knob broke off at stem It was soooo easy. Take broken knob off. I heard (and found true) a metal sleeve is usually left behind. If your broken knob stem is only plastic when you pull it off, the metal is still on where it slides down. Anyway, my husband easily pulled the metal piece that was left behind off by just grabbing it with his hand and then I just press the new knob on. Problem fixed in literally 30 seconds!
