Nadia C South Bend , IN May 08, 2017 Appliance: Model SAMSUNG RB195ACPN Evaporator fan failure Noticed fridge was not cold. Thermostat read 38* after lowering it to try to get it colder. Freezer was working properly. Saw online that this would most likely be a evaporator fan issue. Checked and sure enough, back panel of fridge was cold but no air moving. Ordered the new fan and a replacement sensor (for $8 and a little insurance why not?). Got it next business day! Unplugged and cleaned out fridge and removed the shelves. While the power was off we opened up the back compressor area and vacuumed it out. It was very satisfying to suck up those dust bunnies. Removed the interior back panel by unscrewing two screws. The panel came off in one piece with the electrical components, just had to unplug the fan and sensor. The evaporator panel was ice cold, a very food sign. We unscrewed six screws to access the fan motor. Switched it out for the new one along with the sensor. This was a level 2 on the easy scale of 1-10. The old motor wasn't allowing the fan to spin freely. Put it back together, plugged it in, and (hurrah) it was blowing air! Took this time to clean out all the components before returning them to the fridge. Now it cools better than it has in weeks and is whisper quiet. Not bad for an hour's work (mostly cleaning) and $61.23 (that's with shipping!) to save a 2005 fridge that we are very happy with. Keith M South Burlington , VT April 18, 2017 Appliance: Samsung Refrigerator RB195BSSB/XAA The fridge was freezing everything while temp readout on front was still showing 38 degrees f I started by ordering the temp sensor and replaced the sensor in the fridge which did not resolve the issue. Replacing the sensor was very simple. I just had to remove everything from the refrigerator compartment and then remove 6 screws to pull the back panel off. There were some additional screws on the back side which needed to be removed to allow me to replace the temp sensor. This is a fairly cheap part but I recommend testing the sensor with a multi-meter and checking the Ohms while the temp changes. There are videos on how to check them online, they are also referred to as thermisters. All mine checked out OK. In the end I also started having issues with my freezer and fridge warming up then freezing again so I ordered a main control board (Part # DA41-00293A) which solved the issue. Replacing that was super easy as well. Read More... 9 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 15-30 minutes Tools: Screwdrivers
