Phillip Z Avon , OH September 06, 2015 Appliance: Samsung Microwave SMH9187ST/XAA Samsung microwave "se" error Very easy fix to eliminate the SE error...Hopefully permanently. APP shipped my part so fast it basically arrived the next day without paying for overnight delivery. For about $40, my microwave is up an running again. I tried all the other non-part fixes and none worked for more than a day. The fix was simple. Remove the two screws holding the vent. Push vent to the left and with the micro door open, pull out from the micro. Next, remove the one screw holding the control panel. Push the control panel up and away from micro. Disconnect the wire harnesses and remove panel completely. Next, remove the ribbon cable by pulling up on the white portion of connector. Do not pull the ribbon cable out until you have unlocked it from the circuit board by gently pulling up on the white connector. Now remove the 4-5 philips head screws holding the circuit board and remove. Remove the board and set to the side. Next, place a screw driver between the plastic control panel and the aluminum housing. There are four retention tabs, so pull up on the aluminum housing as you release them with the screw driver. There will be metallic ribbon ground attached to the back of the aluminum housing that simply hooks onto the housing. Once you have the aluminum housing removed, you can use a small screw driver to pry up the touch panel on the front of the control panel. It will likely separate as you pry it off, but you need to remove the entire touch panel until you are down to the plastic base. Watch as the LED cover is now lose and can fall out. Just put it back in if it does, but be sure it's in place before placing the new touchpad. Clean all the excess glue off with goo gone or something similar. DO NOT REMOVE THE ADHESIVE COVER ON THE NEW TOUCHPAD YET. Once the housing is clean, you'll need to slide the two ribbon cables through the slot in the housing. Do the small part of the larger ribbon cable first. Once you get the larger ribbon cable partially through, you'll need to shift it up to then fit the larger portion of the ribbon cable through and also the grounding ribbon. Position the edge of the new touch pad and test fit it on the housing. If all looks good, put the edge closest to the ribbon cable into position, and then remove the adhesive cover. Lay the touch pad down slowly. You only have one chance to get it aligned. Thuroughly press the pad down so it's nicely secured. Now you can re-install the aluminum housing. Start by hooking the grounding ribbon cable to the back of the housing. This ribbon cable does NOT come through the slot in the aluminum housing. It hooks to the back. Now feed the ribbon cable through the slot in the aluminum housing. Now your can push the aluminum housing down until it snaps back into position. This may take a little time to get it to snap back in, but it will go. Gentle pressure should do it. Now you can place the circuit board back into place and fasten with screws. Attach the ribbon cable by gently pushing into the connector until it stops, then push down on the top of the white connector. The cable should now be secured. You are now ready to reinstall the control panel. Attach all the wire connectors and re-install. Now you can place the vent cover by inserting and pushing to the right. Attach with screws. You are now ready to plug in micro and start cooking! So much easier and cheaper than buying a new one. Appliance Part Pros is an awesome website! Deborah Anne S Houston , TX April 05, 2018 Appliance: Samsung Microwave SMH9187ST/XAA Se error code I ordered the part from AppliancePartsPros.com which arrived promptly - I watched several videos (not all of them had all the information so watching several gave me more information than any single one did) -- I took apart the panel as directed and bought a heat gun to help with removing the old sensor pad though one video showed a guy removing it without the heat gun - the heat gun really helped though so I'm glad I saw that video first. I then peeled the backing off and applied the new part -- I'm not great at lining up those sticky things (like with my cell phone protector) but it fits pretty snugly into the panel edges so that made it easier -- I was just the tiniest bit off on the left side but rather than possibly ruin it by ripping it off to try again, I put it all back together (getting those screws back in place must be really hard for guys with big fingers cause I have tiny fingers I had problems), I screwed the panel in place after hooking all the wires back up, (I had to go back and look at another video to find where the white and blue odd shaped plugs went because I couldn't remember (I took it apart before I got the part so there was a waiting period between taking apart and reassembly) -- before closing it all up I plugged it in and tested it -- it WORKED!!!! So I finished putting it all together and now I have a fully functional beautiful built-in microwave --- I had just bought the house and didn't know the microwave didn't work so I was totally delighted that I didn't have to buy a new one. I did it MYSELF!!! Read More... 6 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 15-30 minutes Tools: Pliers, Screwdrivers

Timothy C Chino Hills , CA July 14, 2014 Appliance: Model SMH9187B Se or 5e error In addition to the SE or 5E error, when I could get the microwave to work it would occasionally think random keys were pressed. Replacing the membrane switch panel did the trick. Just remove the control panel, peel off the old switch and stick on the new one. Couldn't be easier.
