Lance B Gallatin , TN April 10, 2017 Appliance: Samsung Refrigerator RS257BARB/XAA Icemaker causing solid blocks of ice to form in the bin and down the walls of the freezer The amount of water being dispensed into the ice cube tray was excessive, causing overflow of the tray. The water then ran into the collection bin and even down the side walls of the freezer creating a huge block of ice in the bin, and ice all over the lower shelves as well. The excessive build up of ice caused the cube tray to crack and also split the little silicone water grommet that connects to the water delivery tube which directs water into the cube tray. Look out for that little tube grommet when you are inspecting your ice-maker assembly as it is easy to miss. After removing all the built up ice from the freezer I could see that water was continually dripping from the delivery tube into the ice cube tray which caused all the overflow. The water inlet valve assembly, which is controlled by electrically operated solenoids was not completely shutting off the water supply to the ice maker. I replaced the defective water inlet valve, the cracked ice cube tray and the damaged silicone grommet that had fallen off of the water tube and into the bin. The ice-maker works like brand new once again. NOTE: The water inlet valve I received was updated with an extra device that looks like a small electrically driven water impeller added to one of the outlet ports of the valve. My earlier model fridge did not have provisions to connect this extra device so I left that part of the valve disconnected. The valve assembly still worked exactly like my original water valve so no worries there if your earlier model fridge does not have the extra wiring required for the little water pump to operate. Double check for leaks and proper operation before buttoning up the backside of your fridge. Kent Y Milpitas , CA June 27, 2021 Appliance: Samsung Refrigerator RS2556SH/XAA-00 The ice tray was in the twisted offload mode and water was not getting in. I changed out the water valve in the back of the fridge. I suspected it was that when resetting the ice maker as well as unplugging/replugging the fridge didn’t work. I followed the video as described, except the hiccup I ran into was a small hole developed into the very bottom of the blue water line when I disconnected it from the valve. Fortunately, the blue line was just long enough for me to cut it above the leak and reconnect it to the valve. Everything else went as described in the great video!
