This is a sound-dampening pad that attaches to the washing machine to reduce noise and vibration during operation. It absorbs mechanical vibrations generated by the drum and motor, helping to keep the washer running quietly. Replace this part if you notice increased rattling, buzzing, or excessive vibration coming from the machine during wash or spin cycles.
Used from harness to top.
Fixing the problem was quite simple. First, I removed the lid assembly (thanks to the diagrams supplied by AppliancePartsPros.com!). Getting the back two screws out was very difficult because I couldn't see them from the front and I could not move the unit out of the enclosed space. - Didn't see any other leaks in machine. No grinding transmission noise. Assumed seal on transmission shaft was bad, since it was a central leak down the rotor.
