This brake release cam works with the washer's brake assembly to disengage the brake during spin and re-engage it at stop. Replacing a worn cam restores smooth basket spin and reduces squeal or grinding at spin transitions.
First I looked at the many you tube vids, and there are many. appliance parts pros pretty much shows you how to deal with the parts. I changed the brake shoes and the clutch assembly which also comes with the driver cam. I also changed the metal brake operating cam. That took 8 tries to finally get it locked in just right. The washer is 20+ years old though. The parts were all exactly correct and fit perfectly. Shipping time was excellent. Parts arrived in about 2 days with "standard" shipping. The washer works great now. This is the second major repair I've done... Read more

Weekend laundry became very noisy, our 1987 Whirlpool washer began doing a dance across the floor and the drum was banging into the inner cabinet. After doing some research and watching a few videos on Appliance parts pros website. I inspected the washer and noticed one leg the rubber coating disintegrated, decided to change all four legs, springs and lid switch. Hardest part of the job is getting the cabinet together.
