Governor Spring
Genuine Midwest Engine part
By: Midwest Engine
Part Number: 690376

The governor spring controls engine speed on a lawn and garden machine under both no-load and load operating conditions. The governor spring can increase and decrease engine speed when using a lawnmower or other tool as it moves over different types of terrain. If this part isn’t working correctly, it can cause the engine to run too slow or fast or may cause engine surges. Inspecting the governor spring and linkage is the first step to take to ensure the operator is working freely. This can be done by moving the throttle from idle to open while watching how the governor shaft moves. If clockwise, the clamp screw should be loosened with the throttle open before being retightened. If this doesn’t handle the issue, replacing the governor spring is required. This is a genuine OEM product coming directly from the manufacturer. It is designed for use with Briggs & Stratton, Cub Cadet, Simplicity, and Craftsman lawnmowers, wood chippers, tillers, log splitters, and pressure washers. This component is sold individually. A socket, screwdriver, and other tools may be needed to undertake this replacement.

Screw
Genuine Midwest Engine part
By: Midwest Engine
Part Number: 690953

This screw is designed by Briggs & Stratton as a mounting screw to attach the carburetor onto the engine body so the two can work in tandem. Over time, these screws can become damaged or broken, which requires replacement. A visual inspection of the carburetor mounting screws can help determine whether they need to be replaced. Cleaning the screws can make it easier to see if the screw has been broken or damaged in any way. In some cases, these screws can also become loose, which also indicates a replacement is required. Remove the old screw using the appropriate screwdriver and install the new screw before running the engine again. This is a genuine OEM replacement part directly from the manufacturer. It is sold individually. This screw is designed for use with Briggs & Stratton, Simplicity, Toro, and Cub Cadet lawnmowers, chipper shredders, leaf blowers, snowblowers, tillers, generators, and lawn tractors. A hex screwdriver and other tools may be needed to make a repair.

O-Ring Seal
Genuine Midwest Engine part
By: Midwest Engine
Part Number: 691031

This O-ring seal is used in all sorts of lawn and garden equipment as a seal for the oil dipstick. It helps seal the system from debris and dirt that could otherwise reach the oil and end up in the motor. Over time, an O-ring will start to shrink, which can result in air and oil leaks and a poorly performing engine. If the O-ring has pits, blisters, or pocks on the surface, it will also need to be replaced. If an O-ring seal is worn, damaged, or clogged, it should be cleaned or replaced before the equipment that houses it is used again. A flat head screwdriver can be used to remove the damaged O-ring. Once the old one has been removed, a new one can be placed into the same position before using the tool. This O-ring seal is designed for lawnmowers, snowblowers, tillers, wood chippers, pressure washers, generators, and leaf blowers. It is compatible with equipment from Simplicity, Briggs & Stratton, MTD, Craftsman, Snapper, Toro, Lawn-Boy, and Cub Cadet. The seal is a genuine OEM replacement part directly sourced from the manufacturer. It comes with a single seal.

Screw
Genuine Midwest Engine part
By: Midwest Engine
Part Number: 691660

This is an authentic muffler deflector screw that is found in small engines for outdoor power equipment from Briggs & Stratton. This metal screw is designed to secure the muffler deflector to the flywheel. In select models, it may also be used to secure the starter clutch to the flywheel. The screw is durable but exposed to high heat and constant wear, which means that it can become damaged or worn with regular use. If the screw is lost or damaged, it will need to be replaced. It should always be replaced with a genuine OEM part. This OEM muffler deflector screw is manufactured by Briggs & Stratton to exact standards and is compatible with several models of small engines. It can be used with various models of blowers, pressure washers, generators, and snow throwers from Toro, Murray, and Briggs & Stratton. It is sold as an individual replacement part. To replace this screw, the flywheel cover will need to be removed. Then, if it is still present, the old screw will need to be removed and the new one can be installed. This screw requires a hex or Torx screwdriver to install. Always wear gloves and disconnect the spark plug for safety when performing engine repairs.
