This genuine MTD shave plate, also known as a scraper bar, can be used as a replacement part for snowblowers. The shave plate is located at the bottom of the auger to scrape snow off of surfaces and filter it into the auger of the snowblower.Damage to the shave plate might include cracks, dents, and erosion to the metal material, or it can gradually wear out and no longer be effective. Evidence of a cracked shave plate can come from a visual inspection, but it can also be detected if the snowblower is doing a poor job of collecting and scraping snow off of surfaces. A cracked shave plate should be removed and replaced immediately, and a snowblower should not be used before the part is replaced.
