This is the compressor start device that helps the refrigerator's compressor motor start up by providing the initial surge of power needed to begin the compression cycle. It regulates current flow to the compressor windings during startup. Replace this part if the refrigerator is not cooling, the compressor clicks on and off repeatedly without running, or you hear a buzzing sound followed by a click coming from the back of the unit.
